A Time to be Thankful

David Letterman, on President Bush.

David Letterman wrote this; it's the David we don't often see....

'As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.' 'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?'

A. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?
B. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?
C. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?
D. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
E. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state.
F. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?
G. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.
H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
I. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.
J. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.
K. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.
L. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.
M. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy. Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it.

The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable' discharge after a few days in the brig. So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane! Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among th e most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at leastb e thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

Weekly Question #5

Question from Danes this week is what song calms you down or just makes you feel good when you hear it. The answer is "The Arms of The One Who Loves You" by Xscape. A female R&B group from the 90's.

Whenever I hear this song it relaxes me and makes me feel at ease because, it talks about letting someone go, and that person still being there when you need them. In life you may lose touch with someone or move away and that's the end of your friendship. Even though we can say we'll keep in touch after awhile it not the same.

At times I think this would a really good song for praise. It can be translated into some straying from the Lord and the Lord letting them go one their journey but letting them know that he loves you and when you are ready to come back to him he'll welcome you with open arms. It makes me feel better about how i've strayed from my faith, this song makes me feel better in knowing that my Father in heaven will be ready to welcome me back with open arms. The lyrics are below:
I know you're going, I can't make you stay
I can only let you know I'll love you anyways
And if the road you take, leads to heartbreak
Somewhere down the lineIf someone ever hurts you, or treats your heart unkind
Chorus:You just run, to the arms of the one who loves you
You just run to these arms And these two arms will keep you warm
When rain has filled your heart, never fear
I'm never far, you just run
To the arms of the one who loves you
I want you happy, I want the best for you
And if you have to leave to find your dream,
I hope that dream comes true
But if the world you find brings you hard times
Or someone makes you cry
I'll be there to hold you, I'll be standing by
Chorus: Sing 2x
My love is strong enough you know,
strong enough to let you go,
but I'll always hold you, inside my heart
And if you should ever change your mind
You can come back anytime
And when you do ( when you do)You( you can run..........)
Chorus

Zzzz...

I am in need of sleep. It seems like if Christian is napping Zane is up. If Zane is napping Christian is up. I don't get it, and its not fair. Its kind of odd, because even if they were both sleeping at the same time, I *might* not get a nap in, but atleast I can get some peace and quiet. Get some things done around the house, watch something other than PSB or Nick.

I swear Christian is entertained by the simpliest things. I turned off the t.v today because I think its been on too much. So we wrestled, dance, and played basketball by throwing random toys in his toy chest. It was fun and he enjoyed so much I could tell. Zane was on the floor screeching and smiling with his dimples! He's now 6 months and he he can get on all fours and rock back in forth. He can pull himself around the floor to get to a toy he wants. One minutes he's there and the other he waaayy over somewhere else, lol. He's getting to crawl soon.

Even writing this right now, they are both up and playing quietly so I though I'll take the oppurtunity to write on the blog since I haven't in a while. I really need to get a move on with getting the place in tip top shape for Thanksgiving. I'm excited because I have a kick butt kitchen this year! I got the menu pretty much set just need a few more things and I'll be all set to cook Thursday morning! I can't wait!!!

It maybe weird but I enjoy Thanksgiving more than Christmas.

Picture Time

Hello all! All is going well here. Being a SAHM is definetly challenging to say the least, but i'm getting the hang of it. I think I got a pretty good routine going with bedtime bath time. That was crazy and hectic. Getting all 3 of us in the shower before the day is done is sometimes not possible and i'm usually the one who misses a shower, lol.
I've been more hands on withteaching Christian sign and he's picking it up nicely, right now his favorite signs are hungry and milk. He i swear these boys are going to eat me out of house and home for sure!
Christian's sleeping is going very well, i've actually never had a problem with him. He's in bed by 8:00-8:30pm. Zane usually is in bed by 5:00-5:30 and he'll wake 3hrs later, i'll give him his 6 oz of forumla and rock him back to sleep. Oh how I miss sleeping through the night....
We're still trying to get this house set up just they way we would lik. When the place is complete i'll post some pics. But for now here are some pics of the boys I made brownies and had Christian lick the spoon...yum!

Its sooooo fustrating to have been SO close to be being in his arms but yet so far. I'm not sure how I'm going to try and stay focused now because all i'm thinking about is he suppose to be here with me but he's not because some numbnut wanted to be a jackass!

Today was a good day.

It started off with cleaning up my room a bit more. Its still not offically set up yet from the move. I cleaned up the loose odds and ends here and there. I seperated some dirty laundry colors and whites and I washed both loads of laundry. So I got some laundry done. I also went to the grocery store and brought a nice supply of food. I was going to shop for Thanksgiving but I didn't want buy Thanksgiving food and forget the 'real' everyday meals. So Thanksgiving food shopping will have to wait until next week.

While at the grocery store my cousin called and we meet up. I haven't seen him in months! He looked good, he gave Christian, my sister, and myself a ride from the grocery store. He also put up my 32'' flat screen t.v. D brought me for mother's day! It looks awesome!!! The living room area is almost complete. Later I gave Christian a bath and after I gave him his milky bottle for the night. We're are having chilli and baked potatoes for dinner tonight. Christian will have some of the that too I'm sure, .·•☆LL☆•·

Weekly Question # 3

My question from Danese this week is:
What accomplishment and I most proud of and why?

I would have to say I'm most proud of accomplishing almost being fully independent from my mom and stepdad. I take pride in the fact that I don't have to ask for money and be dependent on them to live. I'm proud of the fact I buy my own things and pay my own bills.

I know if I SERIOUSLY need them for financial help they would be there. But even right now without a job i 'm proud of the fact I've paid my rent a couple months in advanced with no help but my own.

I take pride in that I'm dependent on myself.

Stay At Home Mom

I got laid off yesterday. Yea, not the highlight of my life. I saw it coming, but to actually have it happen, was very strange and stressfull. I deposited the paychecks they gave me yesterday. The funds should clear in about 5-7 busieness days. So my account is pretty much frozen, I'm afarid to actively buy something in fear that the funds won't be there then my bank will charge a fee. The last thing I need is to have more taken from my account. *sigh*

Let me reassure some people. I'm grateful to have you all in my life and I know you maybe worried about how things to be paid and how I'm going to get by. I will be getting my severance package today. My company will be paying me a percentage of my pay for a period of time. How long I get severance pay depends on how long I've been with the company. I've been with the company for 3 years. Also there's unemployment which is money that is owed to me since I worked for 3 years and paid taxes up the ass!!! The boys are taken care of as far as diapers and wipes are concerned. Their dad takes care of that. So things will be tight for awhile but not unmanageable. I know its will be stressfull at times but I think I'll be ok.

Now its a Thursday morning and I'm at home with nothing to do. Well actually I do have something to do. Parent and watch my boys! That's diffinetly something, hahaha. I was never a stay at home mom. Only time I considered myself a stay at home mom was when I was on maturnity leave. I'm actually nervous. We've been up But its 7am and I've already changed 2 diapers, cleaned up a MESS of cereal Christian crushed in his hand and throw on the table, feed both boys their milk/formula. Now I'm taking a 'break' i 'm cheating. I put on an educational DVD, lol.
After this blog I'm going to have my own breakfast and play with the boys. I know everything is going to be ok. I have to have faith!

I decided to actively look for a job after Thanksgiving. Until then I'm going to try and enjoy the time I have with my boys.

Weekly Question #2

My question from Danese is:

What are my thoughts/view on Gay marriage.

Short and sweet of it. Am I FOR Gay marriage? No. Am I AGAINST Gay marrige? No.

I'm still not too comfortable with the whole man on man action. It just doesn't seem 'right' to me. Being a lesiban is less gross, girl on girl action sounds less gross, lol. I know, I know double standard. But hey whatcha gonna do?

Here in Massachusetts gay marriage is legal and that's ok by me. You won't find me at a rally on Beacon Hill infront of the State House fighting with the Gay and Lesiban association chanting 'Gay is ok' 'Gay is ok' not gonna happen.

Then again you won't find me at an anti-gay rally chanting 'Gay not ok' 'Gay not ok'.

Like I said before I am not FOR gay marriage but I'm not against either. If that makes sense. So those are my thoughts are gay marriage.

Here comes Nov 4th

The election is FAST approaching and I have made up my mind on who I will be voting for. SO I will be voting for Barack Obama! I simply like Obama's direction more than I do McCain's at this pont.

I first was a backer for Senator Hilary Clinton but when she lost the Democratic nomination I was every disappointed. I mopped around and bitched and complained a bit. I then turned my focus on Obama and McCain. Just looking at both men at face value I choose to stand behind McCain a white Republican. Yes people you've read that right I once was going to cast my vote for McCain. A young black female 'middle class'. His experience is greater than Obama's. He spent 22 years in the Navy, spent 4 years on the U.S Senate, he even ran against Bush in 2000 for the Presidency. After he lost he later endorsed Bush. And we all know how that turned out, .·•☆LL☆•·
.
One huge factor that changed my mind about McCain was his choice in running mate Sarah Palin. I COMPLETLY lost all interest in backing a president whos running mate may want to overturn Roe v Wade. She is opposed to abortion in almost ALL cases, including rape and incest but not if the life of the mother is endangered. Palin is in favor of capital punishment, she advocates exposing Artic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, she opposes to putting the Polar Bears on the endangered species list. As far as her veiws on the ecomny she doesn't have one...which scares me. She and McCain supports the Bush Admnistration's policies in Iraq. Her views on the bailout is non existent and when asked about her thoughts on the matter her answer is always uneducated and too common for my liking. Heavens forbid that something may happen to McCain because he's health is an issue in my opinion. She will be running the United States Of American, thinking about it sends shivers down my spine as if I were standing on the streets of Boston in the middle of December with more on than a swimsuit. Yes the chill runs that deep.

There are issues with McCain's tax plan that doesn't help me in the least. I sense that McCain is scared and he should be. Obama is a strong presence and his words will be heard. Once he is in the Oval Office his actions will silence all his doubters.

Novemeber 4th cannot come soon enough. We need change and I know Obama is the one who can bring it.
